Maryland Governor Signs Laundry Tax-Relief Bill
Under a new law signed in early May by Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich Jr. (R), some commercial laundries soon will save hundreds of dollars through a limited exemption on Maryland’s 5% sales tax when purchasing new equipment. The law also exempts textile service companies from “use taxes” on maintenance and other contracts, as well as sales taxes on supplies such as chemicals.
