New Age of Environmental Regulation

Times have changed, as the industry can now expect Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations based on public perception, rather than scientific and economic principle. A chemical that may be toxic to one species at one level is now perceived, by some, to have broad toxic potential to all. Why take a chance? Let’s get rid of it, especially if there are safer alternatives readily available—it’s the green thing to do! From the EPA’s standpoint, this effort would cost significantly less and the environment would benefit (albeit at some indefinable level and at an unknown cost).
