Although OSHA’s new maximum fines won’t take effect until Aug. 1, workplaces inspected as recently as February may see higher fines as a result of the new penalty structure, the agency has announced.
Implementing the maximum fine increase of up to 78% is the focus of an update the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) posted on its enforcement information website.
The update lays out a timeline for implementing the increase and provides the directive from the White House Office of Management and Budget that the agency is adhering to.
