Ohio Lawmaker Unveils Healthcare Reusables Measure

Ohio State Sen. George F. Lang (R) recently introduced Senate Bill 344 (SB 344), legislation designed to increase the amount of reusable textiles in healthcare facilities.

SB 344 proposes enacting Section 3701.95 of the Ohio Revised Code, establishing clear definitions and requirements for the use and processing of infection-prevention textiles—reusable, fabric-based protective items designed to safeguard patients and medical personnel. Sen. Lang is the bill’s primary sponsor.

The legislation requires reusable protective textiles to be processed in ‘hygienically clean certified facilities,’ ensuring they are free of pathogens at levels sufficient to transmit disease.
