Outsourcing Nursing Home Linen—No More Headaches!
Back in the late ’60s, the Westgate Convalescent Center, Tacoma, WA, had a big problem. This 85-bed nursing home was losing money and running low on linen due to equipment breakdowns and turnover of its OPL staff. “Our need for clean linen didn’t just stop because the laundry wasn’t working, and it is a hattering experience to see the soiled linen building into mountains, while the clean linen locker gets bare as Mother Hubbard’s cupboard,” said General Manager Gladys Brewer in an article in the February 1968 Linen Supply News, titled “Linen Supply Was Answer to Their Laundering Problems.”
