Pandemic Penalty—COVID Impact Clear In TRSA’s ’21 Industry Performance Report

COVID-19 has had a dramatic impact on commercial laundries worldwide, and TRSA’s recently released Industry Performance Report reflects that reality of pandemic-driven losses by linen, uniform and facility services operators. Profit margin, a major indicator of financial health, showed a slight increase for Industrial operators (+.6 percentage points) and Healthcare operators (+.4pts.) from 2019 to 2020. Mixed Use operators dropped 2.5% points and F&B/Hospitality had the largest loss of profit margin from 4.7% in 2019 to -11.5% in 2020, a 16.2-percentage-point drop.
