John D. Clark, an Iowa native who founded Prudential Overall Supply in Los Angeles in 1932, had a straightforward outlook on business: “If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” That was an adage of Clark’s that his son Dan recalled during a 1991 memorial service for his father. Prudential, commonly known as “POS,” is now in its second generation of family ownership.
