Forget the presidential election for now. There’s enough to worry about with one more year of the Obama administration and the associated continuing legislative gridlock. While the midterm election (2014) gave Republicans control of both houses of Congress, it didn’t give them the two-thirds majorities needed to override presidential vetoes, and the administration didn’t become less aggressive. Congress had to “play defense” with tools such as:
- Oversight of the administration via hearings and investigations
- Slowing down or blocking appointments, impairing agencies’ ability to act
- Using the power of the purse (budget resolutions) ...
