Safety First: Managing Programs for Injured Employees
Last November, an OSHA consultant inspected California Linen Services’ facility in Pasadena, CA. There were no accidents or employee complaints about unsafe working conditions. The consultant was actually invited by the company’s President Brian O’Neil.
“We called Cal/OSHA and asked to participate in their volunteer program,” says O’Neil, explaining that OSHA’s on-site consultation program offers free and confidential advice to small and midsize businesses nationwide. Since the services are distinct from enforcement, “There are no penalties of any kind,” he says. “The only obligation is to follow up and do what they suggest.”
