Soap Safety—Study Faults Open

A study1 conducted by the University of Arizona, under the direction of microbiologist Dr. Charles P. Gerba, showed that approximately 25% of samples taken from open refillable bulk soap dispensers were contaminated with unsafe levels of bacteria. In contrast, no contamination was found in soap dispensed from sealed systems. The study was funded in part by GOJO Industries Inc., Akron, OH.
