Texas Operators Seek ‘Franchise Tax’ Status

At a recent meeting in Austin, TX, TRSA kicked off an effort to help Texas laundry operators reduce their tax bills by helping to enact legislation that could enable commercial laundries to qualify for the Texas Franchise Tax. Currently limited to “retail” businesses, those companies that qualify for the franchise rate pay a marginal rate of .375 vs. .75 for those businesses that don’t get the franchise rate, a considerable savings.
