The Lonely Soap Peddler

“Don’t blame me! I’m just a lonely, old soap peddler, trying to scrape out a living in this hard, cruel world!” laments every chemical company field sales or service rep in the laundry industry, if not verbally at least mentally more than once in their career. Every laundry owner, operator, general manager, production manager and floor supervisor accuses their “soap man” of creating some calamity for which they aren’t remotely responsible. Unacceptable reject rates, loss of goods, slow production, poverty, strife, world hunger—well, maybe I go too far with the last three, but you get my drift.
