Below are excerpts of an interview with Bob Chronister, Region Five, regional human resources manager for Alsco Inc., Jacksonville, FL. Chronister served as a U.S. Navy helicopter and jet aircrewman during the ’80s and ’90s. His helicopter squadron was involved in the Gulf of Sidra incident in August 1981, during which two Libyan aircraft fired on U.S. forces and were shot down. Later, as a jet crewman, Chronister was among the first military personnel to respond to Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait in August 1990.
