TRSA recently released results of its annual national safety survey that showed the linen, uniform and facility services industry continuing to make progress toward its incident-reducation goals in all its facilities. TRSA members cut their total recordable incident rate (TRIR) by 40.7% from 2019–’23. By comparison, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the linen and uniform supply industry TRIR rate dropped 24.5% from 2019–’23. In the same period, the manufacturing industry cut its TRIR rate by 15.2%, while all private industry saw a 14.3% reduction. For the DART rate, which measures days away, restricted and/or transferred, TRSA members saw a 42.5% reduction (from 4.0 in 2019 to 2.3 in 2023) vs. an overall laundry industry rate decline of 19.4%. The manufacturing industry DART rate fell from 2.0 rate to 1.8 since 2019, and the all private industry DART rate remained flat at 1.5.
