Unitex Centennial—A Strategic Success Story
Unitex, a leading healthcare laundry in the Northeast with 13 plants, is marking its 100th anniversary this July. Still family-owned and operated—with crucial backing from nonfamily managers and hourly staff—Unitex is 215 times larger than it was when Michael Potack took charge in 1966 from his ailing father, Bernard. Since Michael’s sons David and Rob joined the company in 1995 and 2001, respectively, Unitex has continued to expand. It’s now six times larger than when its groundbreaking Mt. Vernon, NY, plant opened in 2003.
