What Impact Will New Science Have on Our Future?

Scientific progress in the measurement of materials in the environment, identification of emerging pollutants, nanotechnology and the growing concern for long-term risks have become a driving force in American society and politics. We have several examples that illustrate what the future could bring. And, unfortunately some will result more from environmental fervor than sound science. When science can’t keep up, public pressure will take over. Some additional scrutiny will no doubt befall our industry.
