1888 Mills, Griffin, GA, has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire a majority stake in the terry unit of Roomi Fabrics, Lahore, Pakistan, further expanding its global manufacturing footprint.

Under the memo of understanding, the newly formed business entity will operate under the name Roomi 1888 Mills. The acquisition is subject to approval by regulatory and financial institutions in Pakistan. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The purchase will include Roomi Fabrics’ state-of-the-art terry manufacturing facility located in Lahore, Pakistan. This strategic investment will significantly expand 1888 Mills global production capacity, particularly in high-end and luxury terry, as well as advanced yarn-dyed and jacquard capabilities. The plant in Lahore has weaving and processing capacity of 100 tons per day – or more than 100,000 towels daily, according to Roomi’s website.

“This acquisition represents an important step forward in strengthening our global manufacturing platform,” said Omar Khan, COO of 1888 Mills. “By combining Roomi’s technical expertise and modern facility with 1888 Mills’ scale, innovation and customer-first approach, we are enhancing our ability to deliver premium quality, consistency and service to our customers worldwide.”

The manufacturing facility produces a wide range of jacquard and dobby towels for retail, institutional and hospitality customers. Its cotton blends comprise organic, recycled poly, viscose, Modal, hemp, poly and others.

Roomi 1888 Mills will complement 1888 Mill’s existing manufacturing facilities in Karachi, Pakistan; Bangladesh and Cambodia. The expanded network reinforces the company’s commitment to vertically integrated manufacturing, operational excellence and long-term partnerships with customers across the hospitality, retail and institutional markets, Khan said.

“This investment not only increases capacity but also allows us to further elevate our product offering in luxury terry,” he added. “It positions us to meet growing customer demand with greater speed, flexibility and craftsmanship, while maintaining the quality standards our customers expect from 1888 Mills.”
