8/22 Webinar Guides You to TRSA, FEMA Help in Emergency Planning
Guidance in maintaining a comprehensive plan for linen, uniform and facility services business disruption will be offered in “Disaster Planning and Recovery,” a TRSA webinar scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT on Thursday, Aug. 22.
The program will draw from:
- TRSA’s Recommended Professional Practices for Disaster Planning, which includes a crisis-management checklist and overview of plan elements.
- Ready.gov, the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) website that helps you improve preparedness with its toolkits, training and exercises, and guidance on incident management, hazard prevention and more.
- The experience of Halifax Linen Service, Roanoke Rapids, NC, where a cyberattack led to a complete shutdown of operations – for a day. The disruption in part inspired the company to create a new IT director position that covers all cybersecurity bases, espousing the philosophy that the company’s IT infrastructure’s vulnerability is the tip of the iceberg. They’re concerned about suppliers’ computing, too.
Besides IT systems failure, emphasis will be on what needs to be done to anticipate and recover from challenges such as:
- Complete shutdown of plant operations, necessitating their relocation to another laundry
- Utility services outages, forcing you to use on-site backups for power, fuel or water
- Highway/street closings, preventing you from delivering to customers or stopping employees from getting to work or leaving there
Presenters:
- Torian Fields, director, information technology, Halifax Linen Service, Roanoke Rapids, NC
- Colin Giles, regional safety manager, Unitex Healthcare Laundry Services, Lawrence, MA
- Sandi McCullough, director, safety & risk, CORE Linen Services, Baldwin, WI
