Benjamin Joins the LAVATEC Sales Team

Scott Benjamin is the new northeast regional sales manager for LAVATEC, Beacon Falls, CT. A 30-plus year veteran of the linen, uniform and facility services industry, he works with customers in 13 states along the eastern seaboard and reports to Jim Shaw, the company’s vice president and national accounts sales manager.

Based in Camp Hill, PA, Benjamin joined the company following a nearly 20-year run with PAC Industries. PAC was acquired by EVI in 2019. After beginning in customer and service support, he became a sales representative in 2013. Promoted to a sales manager position in 2021, he led a team of 20 equipment sales reps and also was responsible for continuous training meetings for all sales and operational teams.

“I was originally hired to grow the company’s maintenance programs but based on my past management experience, I became involved with service management and special project assignments,” Benjamin said. “With my desire for continuous growth, moving to equipment sales was the next natural step. I took over for a retiring salesperson so the timing was perfect.”

When approached by a LAVATEC recruiter, Benjamin was intrigued by the opportunity.

“While managing my large team, I was mentoring many new reps and was involved in their projects on a daily basis,” Benjamin said. “It stimulated my desire to return to a day-to-day sales position, and so when I was contacted by LAVATEC I met in person with Jim Shaw and President Mark Thrasher. I immediately knew this was the right opportunity and the type of company culture for me.”

Benjamin said LAVATEC’s finishing equipment agreement with industrial laundry manufacturer VEGA Systems will factor into his meetings with customers.

“Our alignment with VEGA Systems gives us an opportunity to penetrate the OPL market with the number of larger hotels, nursing facilities and party linen rental companies in my territory,” he remarked. “I also plan to leverage my previous customer relationships and will be organizing our customer base through service and equipment parts sales.”
