Share experience with industry peers Tuesday, April 7, on business risks that linen and uniform services face in 2026 and the most feasible ways to minimize these and control damage. This Safety & Risk Management Network Connections virtual roundtable discussion starts at 1 p.m. EDT on Zoom.
Topics to be covered:
Cybersecurity – Avoiding the Latest Threats and Defending against them if You Can’t
A task force of TRSA’s IT Committee is developing industrywide solutions, including a cyber incident response plan, vendor risk assessment and risk assessment workbook. Plans for an annual “State of Cybersecurity” report are underway. Best practices sharing is contemplated on matters such as artificial intelligence (AI) tools for risk management and security monitoring. The task force sees potential to build a community of collaborators to provide cyber insights (Datos Insights photo).
Drivers – Truck Tech and Training to Avoid Mishaps, Conflicts
Prior TRSA webinars and presentations have covered fleet safety, identifying these key challenges for the industry:
- Dash cameras and telematics: preventing nuisance lawsuits, establishing responsibility for crashes (Lytx photo).
- Training: Behind the wheel, e-learning, staff meetings
- Driver qualifications
- Reaction to accidents in real time: interaction with other affected drivers, determining fault without police involvement
- Equipping trucks for emergencies
- Accident aftermath: insurance, investigation, documentation, root-cause analysis, driver followup
All Employees – Safety as Corporate Culture, Cost-Control Challenge
Management leadership and employee involvement are cornerstones of TRSA’s new Safety & Health Certification program. Their inclusion among major elements to be inspected at certification candidates’ locations recognizes the importance of safety to corporate culture: safety performance drives employee engagement and such engagement drives improved business results.
Greater cost-effectiveness of injury and illness prevention and treatment is one such desired result. While this year’s insurance market is relatively stable, medical costs continue to spiral upward. Worker’s comp premium costs can spike where states have updated their experience modification rate (EMR) formulas to weigh claim frequency more heavily. A series of small, preventable injuries can now be more financially damaging than a single large claim.
