A three-alarm blaze that began on Christmas Eve and continued into Christmas Day left the Arway Linen plant in the Frankford section of Northeast Philadelphia a total loss, according to local news reports.
The Philadelphia Fire Department battled the blaze for more than 12 hours. “No injuries have been reported, and the cause will be investigated by our Fire Marshal’s Office,” the PFD said in a statement on its official Facebook page.
Arway Linen issued the following statement to customers regarding the fire: “Our facility in Frankford is gone. We want to thank all responders for their incredible efforts in containing this three-alarm fire for over 12 hours on the eve of the holiday season. While we are already underway with our new state-of-the-art facility in Port Richmond, we want to address the immediate future for our current customers. Our dedication to serving you doesn’t change.”
The company continued its service on Dec. 26 and indicated its product offerings would be temporarily modified as it replenished inventory. “We are all-hands-on-deck as we navigate through the challenges and emotions of losing our home for 40 years. We sincerely appreciate your patience and compassion during this difficult time. Thank you.”
Arway Linen plans to move into the new 70,000-square-foot facility in the Port Richmond area of Philadelphia this year.
