Girbau celebrated its 105th anniversary with an event at its headquarters in Vic, Spain, located roughly 50 miles north of Barcelona. More than a century after its founding in 1920 as a small workshop for electromechanical equipment, the company brought together the entire headquarters team, their families and the presidents of its international subsidiaries to commemorate the milestone.
The day began with a tour of the production centers, where Girbau employees and their families had the opportunity to gain a first-hand understanding of the company’s industrial processes, technological evolution and the projects that are shaping its future.
The event also featured live musical performances, a roller-skating act, and a moment in which Girbau’s HS washers were transformed into both stage and artistic canvas. In addition, world champion master chocolatier Lluc Crusellas sent his personal congratulations along with a commemorative cake created especially for the occasion.
During the event, key moments from the company’s history were revisited. The company highlighted how it has grown from its roots in Vic to become a global brand. A reflection of this journey was the presence of the presidents of the 16 international subsidiaries of the group and of Mike Floyd, who received special recognition for his longstanding relationship with Girbau and his role in over 30 years of Girbau North America’s trajectory.
As part of the commemorative actions for this 105th anniversary, Girbau has launched a series of celebrations that will take place throughout the year. Among them is the planting of a cypress tree at the company’s headquarters in memory of Pere Girbau, a key figure of the second generation of family ownership, as well as various local events in the group’s international branches, where each subsidiary will mark this anniversary in its own way.
