TRSA filed a request last month requesting that OSHA extend the period for submitting comments on the proposed Heat Injury and Illness Prevention in Outdoor and Indoor Work Settings rule. OSHA granted this request and extended the comment period until Jan. 14, 2025.

As previously reported, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is in the rulemaking process to create the first-ever federal safety standard addressing excessive heat in the workplace. TRSA is preparing public comments to describe the potential impacts of this rule on the linen, uniform and facility services industry if finalized. We are gathering information and data from TRSA members, industry partners and other stakeholders to address the major requirements of the proposed rule, and voice concerns for our industry and the essential sectors that TRSA members enable to safely operate.

In addition to the comment period extension, OSHA is scheduling an informal public hearing on this proposed rule, which will begin June 16, 2025. Please reach out to TRSA Advocacy Manager Caleigh McDonough (cmcdonough@trsa.org) with any questions.
