The son of HandCraft Services’ quality control/inventory/facilities manager based in High Point, NC, is the recipient of the 2023 Merit-based College/Technical Institution Scholarship awarded by TRSA’s Textile Rental Education and Research Trust (TRERT). Gregory Vallejos is entering his freshman year at the University of Mississippi.
The son of Joe Vallejos, Gregory is a recent graduate of East Forsyth High School, Kernersville, NC, where he earned a 3.7 grade point average, was a National Honor Society member and played baseball for four years.
“In my business class, he was an active participant in class discussions, and he grasps material very quickly,” said Andrea M. Layton, the business education teacher who wrote Gregory’s recommendation letter for the scholarship. “He has superb written and verbal skills that are a pleasure for any teacher to encounter. He works extremely hard and carries himself in a polite and respectable manner. In addition, Gregory is a great team player and always has a positive attitude.”
Vallejos was eligible for the scholarship as a child of a full-time employee of a TRSA member company in good standing for at least three years. Employees and their children or grandchildren were qualified for the award, which was open to candidates who were anticipating freshman entry, previously accepted as a freshman, or underclassmen continuing their education. The program may be continued in 2024 if TRERT receives the necessary support to do so. Contact Ken Koepper at 540.613.5110, to donate.
