Medico Healthcare Linen Service celebrated the grand opening of its new facility in San Bernardino, CA, on April 15 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring local leaders, top executives from the company’s corporate headquarters and staff from the San Bernardino plant.
San Bernardino Mayor Helen Tran and San Bernardino City Council Member Mario Flores attended the grand opening and gave brief remarks before Medico Chief Operating Officer Greg Shames cut the ribbon to officially open the new facility.
The 52,000-square-foot building is the third healthcare laundry for Los Angeles-based American Textile Maintenance (ATM) in Southern California. The company also owns and operates two food-and-beverage (F&B) linen service plants in the region doing business as Republic Master Chefs.
The San Bernardino facility will eventually employ 120 full-time employees. Equipment automation is extensive throughout the plant. ATM partnered closely with its equipment supplier, JENSEN USA, Panama City, FL, to design the new facility.
In addition to JENSEN equipment, the facility has a water-recycling system using reverse osmosis and ceramic membrane technologies from Kemco Systems, Clearwater, FL, which will minimize wastewater discharges to the public sewer system and contribute to making the facility one of the most efficient healthcare laundries in the region.
Representatives from several supplier partner companies attended the ceremony. These included officials from ADI, Calderon, Ecolab, JENSEN, MCC (Mobile Computing Corp.), Medline, and Norm Wilson and Sons (a contractor). Following the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, Medico hosted a luncheon for attendees of the event.
