MP Morin Tours K-Bro Linen Systems

TRSA recently joined Member of Parliament Billy Morin for a tour of K-Bro’s Edmonton facility and corporate headquarters, providing an opportunity to highlight the industrial laundry sector’s workforce, capital investments and importance to Canada’s healthcare supply chain to a key government official.

Morin, a conservative elected to Parliament in 2025, represents Edmonton Northwest, where K-Bro is located. So far, his leadership has included a focus on economic development, job creation and partnerships between Indigenous communities, government and the private sector.

K-Bro is Canada’s largest owner and operator of laundry and linen-processing facilities, and maintains a significant presence in the United Kingdom as well. Across its operations, the company employs thousands of people and provides laundry, textile rental, management and distribution services to healthcare institutions, hotels and other commercial customers.

During the visit, K-Bro’s leadership team, including SVP and COO Sean Curtis, CFO Kristie Plaquin and GM Trevor Rye, demonstrated the specialized equipment and large-scale processes used to clean, inspect and prepare reusable textiles for customers throughout the region.

The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the industry’s ongoing effort to have industrial textile laundering recognized as a manufacturing or processing activity under Canada’s Capital Cost Allowance rules. This recognition would allow eligible companies to access enhanced tax treatment for qualifying capital investments, helping businesses modernize facilities, improve productivity and support additional Canadian jobs.

Along with this, the discussion addressed healthcare supply-chain resilience and the importance of maintaining strong domestic capacity to process reusable healthcare textiles. As a major provider to Canada’s healthcare sector, K-Bro helps ensure that hospitals and other care facilities have dependable access to hygienically clean linens and other essential textile products.

The tour was part of TRSA’s broader Canadian advocacy initiative to educate policymakers about the industrial laundry sector and build support for policies that encourage investment in Canadian operations. Given MP Morin’s background in economic development, the visit offered an important opportunity to demonstrate how targeted tax policy can strengthen major employers, local jobs and essential service infrastructure.
