TRSA will convene its New York Legislative Conference on March 9-10 to advocate for legislation currently under consideration in the New York Legislature. The bill would require healthcare facilities to maintain a 50 percent operating threshold of reusable healthcare protective textiles. The proposal reflects New York’s growing recognition of reusable textiles as essential components of healthcare infrastructure that enhance hospital preparedness, control costs and ensure stable access to critical supplies.
The conference will gather industry leaders to discuss how the 50 percent reusable threshold can strengthen long-term demand for durable textile products, support professional laundry operations across the state and establish a sustainable policy framework aligned with public health priorities. Participants will receive detailed advocacy guidance and engage directly with lawmakers to communicate the benefits of adopting reusable protective textiles statewide.
Conference Schedule
Monday, March 9
The event will begin with a general session from 3 to 5 p.m. featuring an advocacy update and talking points for legislative meetings led by Vice President of Government Relations Kevin Schwalb. A networking reception for all attendees will follow.
Tuesday, March 10
The day will open with breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m., followed by in-person meetings at the New York State Capitol concluding at 2 p.m.
