Identifying and addressing impediments to effective maintenance and engineering staffing in linen and uniform service workplaces is the primary topic for TRSA’s next Network Connections virtual roundtable. Laundry operators and supplier partners can share their challenges with TRSA leaders and industry colleagues in this July 8 online event.

Discussion will center on strategies for labor recruiting and retention. These are viewed as critical to leaping the most common hurdles to keeping plant operations running smoothly, such as:

  • Staying on top of preventive maintenance tasks
  • Minimizing breakdowns
  • Reducing machinery service calls

Concerns will be raised by industry professionals who hail from multiple levels of their organizational charts, from newer maintenance manager hires to industry veterans at the executive level. Recent trends in wages and benefits are a likely topic. A recent TRSA education task force discussion identified key challenges many operations face:

  • Attracting qualified technicians with the right mix of technical skills
  • Getting newer management hires up to speed on the industry
  • Improving technician retention through a better work experience

The roundtable will aid TRSA’s development of industrywide resources to address these concerns and more. Shared experience will plant seeds for research, articles and presentations that maximize membership involvement in devising solutions to commonly experienced problems.

TRSA Network Connections roundtables are free to TRSA member company staff. Click here to register for the July 8 maintenance/engineering discussion, which starts at 1 p.m. Eastern time.
