TRSA hosted its latest Production Network Connections virtual roundtable, bringing together professionals from across the linen, uniform and facility services industry for a highly interactive session focused on plant operations and insights on maximizing the value of plant tours.

The event, held from 1–2 p.m. EDT on Sept. 23, was moderated by Jack Morgan, senior editor at TRSA; and Jason Risley, TRSA’s director of content management. Unlike traditional webinars, this roundtable emphasized participant-driven discussion, with attendees sharing their own experiences and insights on production-related topics. The discussion explored how these visits can spark innovation, improve operations and strengthen professional networks.

Participants engaged in a series of thought-provoking topics, including:

  • Preferences between structured vs. freeform plant tours
  • Favorite departments of the plant to visit and insights gained
  • Observations on workplace safety, staffing levels and cleanliness
  • The role of vendors during plant tours
  • Interest in boiler room visits and infrastructure understanding
  • Comparing floor-space usage and layout efficiency
  • Identifying signs of Lean Six Sigma or similar programs
  • Noticing motivational signage and its impact on workplace culture

Attendees also discussed how plant visits have influenced their own operations and sparked ideas for improvement. Additionally, the moderators also mentioned the upcoming Single Source Plus plant tour at TRSA’s Northeast Production Summit, scheduled for Oct. 22–23 in Philadelphia – TRSA’s final regional summit of the year.
