Superior Linen Service, Tulsa, OK, recently qualified for OSHA’s SHARP certification, one of the agency’s top awards for companies that demonstrate exceptional commitment to workplace safety and health.

Leslie Osborn, the Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor, announced the award for SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) during a Dec. 9 ceremony at Superior Linen Service’s plant in Tulsa.

Commissioner Osborn applauded the company’s leadership and collaborative safety practices, noting that, “Superior Linen Service has set a high standard by empowering its employees to take an active role in their own safety and well-being. Their exemplary management and unwavering dedication to workplace safety serve as a model for the industry.”

Another speaker, Jason Hudson, director of the Consultation Division of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), added that Superior Linen Service has achieved success in the critical areas necessary to meet the requirements of the SHARP program. “Earning SHARP certification is no easy feat,” Hudson said. “It starts with management’s unwavering commitment to safety, which sets the tone for the entire organization. Superior Linen Service has clearly demonstrated that leadership – coupled with active employee involvement – forms the foundation of an exceptional safety and health program.” He added that the agency looks forward to continued collaboration with Superior Linen Service, encouraging the company to “keep up the good work” as they build on their already-strong safety culture.

A third speaker, Laura Waldman, an industrial engineer and the company’s fourth-generation owner, cited teamwork in the form of employees looking out for each other with making the SHARP recognition a reality for Superior Linen Service. “I am incredibly proud of all the Superior employees that worked toward attaining SHARP certification,” Waldman said. “This whole effort is led by employees at all levels, and is not possible without employee buy-in. Receiving SHARP certification is an honor for our company, and a recognition of our employees who work together to take care of their peers and to continuously improve Superior Linen Service.”

A news release on the event added that, “This achievement not only reflects the company’s leadership in the commercial laundry and textile rental industry but also underscores its role as a standard-bearer for safety excellence in Oklahoma and beyond.” The release noted that Superior Linen is one of only 14 companies in Oklahoma that have received the OSHA SHARP certification.
