On July 10, TRSA hosted a webinar titled “Linen Handling Best Practices: Protecting against Infection in Healthcare Facilities.” The hour-long webinar was hosted by a trio of industry experts, including Mike Lang, process analyst at Unitex Healthcare Laundry Services; Chuck Rossmiller, senior director of national field sales at Medline Industries Inc.; and Nancy Tree, process quality assurance and compliance manager at Alsco Uniforms.
The webinar was the third and final presentation in a series that launched earlier this year. The finale focused on how to properly handle clean and soiled linens in hospitals and other healthcare settings. More than 600 people registered for the event, including more than 150 from different healthcare organizations.
TRSA hosted the first webinar in the series on May 1, which provided infection preventionists and other healthcare professionals a guide for conducting effective site visits and inspections of facilities maintained by professional laundry service providers. The second webinar, hosted on June 3, examined the risks of laundering facility-provided scrubs at home. The presentation followed the release of a new study that found that home washing machines often do not properly eliminate harmful bacteria even at high temperatures.
