TRSA is actively looking for members to join its newly formed Industry Research Council, which is dedicated to identifying and developing potential research initiatives that bolster TRSA’s advocacy efforts.
In the coming year, the Research Council will focus its efforts on a pair of research projects:
- Making the case for increased use of reusable products vs. nonwoven, single-use items. The council will compare and contrast the financial and waste impact of these products, as well as determine the cradle-to-grave costs of various reusable items vs. their nonwoven equivalents.
- Conducting research on the value of outsourcing linen/uniform supply, laundering and maintenance, through research on labor cost savings, etc. Determine customer industries’ revenue and expense impacts from outsourcing this service.
The first phase of research that the council will conduct in 2026 will be a Literature Review of existing research and information available that supports these two concepts of increased use of reusable textiles and outsourcing.
By focusing on TRSA’s mission to expand, promote and protect the linen, uniform and facility services industry, the council aims to provide valuable insights and data-driven recommendations. Through collaboration with industry experts, stakeholders and academic institutions, the council ensures that TRSA’s advocacy is supported by robust and relevant research, driving innovation and growth within the sector.
Members of the Industry Research Council include:
- Michael Dodge, vice president of customer development, LinenTech Inc.
- Bob Hager, CEO & Chairman of the Board, Miller’s Textile Services Inc.
- John Harris, president, Metro Linen
- Thomas Mahoney, vice president of strategic markets – healthcare, Cintas Corp.
