Two Surveys to Track Healthcare and Safety Benchmarks

TRSA’s Healthcare Committee is following up on last year’s initiative to survey operators on trends affecting the healthcare textile industry with an updated healthcare trends survey. This year’s survey addresses seven trend categories: financial, fleet management, automation and technology, labor market, infection control, certification and sustainability.

The 42-question survey takes less than seven minutes to complete and each plant should submit its own survey and not combine multiple plants. It is acceptable for more than one employee to fill out the survey for a plant.

“The purpose of the survey is to gather essential information that will enable us to better comprehend and foresee the industry’s evolving changes and challenges,” said Samlane Ketevong, TRSA’s senior director of certification & accreditation and the association’s Healthcare Committee staff liaison.

The survey results will be presented by Carlos Iniguez, quality assurance and compliance officer, HandCraft Services Inc., at the TRSA Healthcare Conference on Nov. 13-14 in Atlanta. All member operator participants in the survey will receive a free copy of the trends analysis. The report also will be for available for purchase in the TRSA Store. TRSA members have made significant strides in reducing workplace illnesses and injuries, as highlighted in the 2023 Industry Safety Report. However, not all companies are on the same improvement path. Companies can use the data to compare how they kept pace with the industry and measure if eliminating risks as effectively as others in similar facilities and markets.

Participation in the Industry Safety Survey, distributed on Sept. 17, allows operators to benchmark their safety program against industry progress. This will help demonstrate to OSHA that linen, uniform and facility services companies are voluntarily improving their safety performance.

Submitting the data is as simple as using a PDF and copying the data from the OSHA Form 300A, which companies post in their facilities from February through April. A spreadsheet also is available to transmit data electronically, which eases the process for multi-location companies. Submission of Form 300A photocopies is acceptable as well. Documentation is 100% confidential, submitted directly to Mackay Research Group.

TRSA members receive a FREE 2024 TRSA Industry Safety Report (reporting 2023 data) and a custom report (benchmarking your company’s safety record against the entire industry) by completing the survey. Non-TRSA members that participate in the survey receive the 2024 TRSA Industry Safety Report for just $495. To take the Safety Survey, click here. The deadline for submission is Oct. 15.
