U.S. Rep. Visits CORE Linen Facility

Posted May 17, 2024 at 2:44 pm

U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) recently visited the CORE Linen Services (formerly Crothall Healthcare) facility in Johnson City, TN. Facilitated by Kevin Schwalb, TRSA’s vice president of government relations, Rep. Harshbarger met with CORE Linen Services’ CEO Michael Barner; Regional Director Mike Edwards; and members of the plant’s staff during the visit.

CORE Linen Services showcased their operation and discussed issues impacting the linen, uniform and facility services industry with Rep. Harshbarger. Prior to joining the U.S. House, Rep. Harshbarger worked as a pharmacist in Tennessee. She is well-versed in the benefits of reusable personal protective equipment (PPE) over disposables, and is receptive to supporting TRSA’s efforts to increase the share of reusables in healthcare settings. This visit was an exciting opportunity to continue building our industry’s relationships with policymakers and ensuring that they understand the impacts that their decisions have on our industry and all the essential operations that TRSA members serve.

If you are interested in hosting a congressional plant visit, TRSA is available to help coordinate, from making the initial contact with a legislator’s office to helping with the agenda and talking points. Additionally, another mechanism to engage with Congress is through TRSA’s Political Action Committee, TRSAPAC, which allows us to support key policymakers who support our industry, and align with our values and positions on key issues.

2024 is an election year, and it is critical that we play an active role in the legislative and regulatory landscape and promote our industry’s protection and growth. Take action to promote your business and our industry by participating in congressional plant visits. Questions? Contact Schwalb at kschwalb@trsa.org.
