Hygienically Clean Healthcare Certification

When hospitals and other healthcare facilities evaluate linen, uniform, and facility service options, every laundry under consideration should hold Hygienically Clean Healthcare certification. This certification recognizes laundries’ effectiveness in safeguarding healthcare operations through rigorous testing and inspections that assess quality control procedures related to the handling of textiles containing blood and other potentially infectious materials.

Hygienically Clean Healthcare certified laundries employ processes, chemicals, and best management practices (BMPs) endorsed by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, American National Standards Institute, and other recognized organizations.

Launched in 2012, Hygienically Clean Healthcare introduced international cleanliness standards for healthcare linens and garments to North America, standards already in use worldwide by the Certification Association for Professional Textile Services and the European Committee for Standardization.

Hygienically Clean establishes a benchmark for reducing pathogens on textile products to levels that pose no threat to human health. The following research provides scientific, quantitative definitions that clearly establish and validate these cleanliness levels, underscoring the growing importance of quantifying and verifying textile hygiene in the U.S. healthcare industry.

Quantifying Hygienically Clean Removes All Doubt

Achieving this certification reflects your commitment to best management practices (BMPs) in laundering, as verified by third-party audits, and demonstrates your ability to produce hygienically clean textiles, as shown by ongoing microbiological testing. Your dedication to compliance and the processing of healthcare linens and garments using BMPs outlined in your Quality Assurance (QA) manual is validated. The QA manual serves as the basis for the auditor’s evaluation of your Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), BMPs, and critical control points to minimize risk.

The Hygienically Clean website is still available for your customers’ use.
