FREE webinar with technology highlights – Nor Tekstil, Oslo, Norway (Virtual tour)
In this free one-hour webinar hosted by TRSA supply member, JENSEN, we consider the challenges in automating laundry operations especially when it comes to identifying specific textile pieces, sorting, bundle breaking and so on. We will see how a Norwegian laundry is raising the bar for the rest of the industry through a virtual tour of the technology. Serving the hotel industry at scale, Nor Tekstil’s Berger plant, near Oslo, combines automation, environmental stewardship, and a people-centered design to achieve more efficiencies than ever before.

The 7,000-square-meter (75,000 square feet) laundry facility processes 50 tons (110,00 pounds) in an 8-hour shift. Guided by equipment/technology providers JENSEN Group and Inwatec, you’ll view its highlights including:
Robotic soil sorting eliminates manual sorting, reduces labour costs, and mitigates injuries from repetitive lifting. X-ray and AI-powered scanners, along with 3D-camera robotics, handle up to 99% of incoming laundry, delivering consistent quality and throughput.
Buffer and call‑off for stacked linen saves manual handling time and reduces space and labor costs by optimized automation of the ‘last mile’ between folding and packaging . Buffering capacity adapts to production peaks and troughs, enabling continuous plant operation without constant manual intervention. Monitoring and calibration maintain ergonomic and steady manual handling at pack-out.
Bundle breaking for wrapped item separation reduces labor and processing delays by delivering individual items directly to packing, ensuring smoother packing flow. Bundled/wrapped linens are automatically separated upon arrival, eliminating manual unwrapping work and boosting end-of-line efficiency.
Commissioned around 2018, the plant consolidated hotel production in the company’s Oslo service area thanks to high throughput workflows. Designed with sustainability in mind, the facility has one of the lowest environmental footprints per kilo of laundry globally, with water and energy recycling and retained process chemistry in recycled water.
