Associate Professor
The University of British Columbia
Dr. Wyatt is a world-renowned expert in precision oncology, focusing on prostate and bladder cancers. His pioneering research on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and cancer genomics is transforming the way cancers are diagnosed, monitored and treated.
Dr. Wyatt has a unique ability to make complex science accessible, offering clear perspectives on advances in cancer treatment. This makes him an engaging speaker who can both inspire and educate TRSA conference attendees—many of whom work directly or indirectly in the healthcare sector, where changes in cancer care methodologies will have far-reaching impacts.
His research has advanced cancer care through the development of non-invasive liquid biopsies using ctDNA. These tests allow clinicians to profile tumors, predict therapy responses, and monitor disease progression without invasive procedures. His team’s work has demonstrated that ctDNA is a reliable surrogate for metastatic tumor tissue, enabling personalized treatment strategies that improve patient outcomes.
His insights into the molecular drivers of aggressive cancers, such as neuroendocrine prostate cancer, highlight his critical role in healthcare innovation—an area highly relevant to TRSA members. In addition, Dr. Wyatt illustrates how innovations in cancer diagnostics intersect with healthcare delivery, reducing hospital stays and improving patient care in ways that align with TRSA’s focus on efficiency, quality and sustainability.
