On Aug. 17, AHE Board Chair-Elect James Odom, the university director of buildings & grounds, facilities development & operations at UConn Health, moderated a discussion with TRSA member Dyan Troxel, the director of clinical education at HandCraft Linen Services; and APIC member Jenna Rivers, infection preventionist at Moffitt Cancer Center.

The discussion took place at AHE Exchange26 in a session titled “Operational Excellence in Reusable Linen Management: What EVS Leaders Must Know.”

The panel highlighted that successful reusable linen programs depend on far more than clean linen delivery and soiled linen collection. Key factors include staff education, inventory management, patient safety, regulatory compliance and strong provider partnerships, while metrics such as linen loss, utilization trends and pounds per patient day help drive continuous improvement. Speakers emphasized that collaboration, transparency and accountability are essential to achieving operational excellence and supporting infection-prevention efforts.

Following the session, the panelists joined Infection Control Today Editor Tori Whitacre Martinez to discuss these insights further, and the video interview is now available to view.
