Medico Healthcare Linen Service has purchased a 52,000-square-foot building in San Bernardino, CA, to be the third healthcare laundry for Los Angeles-based American Textile Maintenance (ATM) in Southern California. The company also owns and operates two restaurant linen service plants in the region doing business as Republic Master Chefs (RMC).
Opening is anticipated in the first quarter of 2025. The laundry will eventually employ 120 full-time employees. Equipment automation will be extensive, fostering employee safety and comfort. Prompted by the company’s continuing growth, ATM partnered closely with its equipment supplier, Jensen USA, Panama City, FL, to design the new facility.
Among the plant’s distinguishing features will be a water recycling system using reverse osmosis and ceramic membrane technologies (Kemco Systems, Clearwater, FL) which will minimize wastewater discharges to the public sewer system and contribute to making the facility one of the most efficient healthcare laundries in the region.
ATM currently operates a Medico and an RMC laundry both in Los Angeles and Long Beach, with distribution centers in LA, San Diego and Riverside, with an additional depot opening in Santa Clarita later this year.
