The recently completed combination of responses to the TRSA and Textile Services Association (TSA-UK) fire safety surveys will be among plant operations developments at an upcoming TRSA in-person event. This Production Summit and Plant Tours takes place Oct. 15-16 at Newark (NJ/NY) International Airport, with fire safety among the topics discussed the first day.

The survey covers a combined 49 incidents experienced by the two associations’ members, with them reporting on the following for each:

  • Year/month of fire
  • Laundry area where it originated
  • Time of day it originated
  • Fire incident type (spontaneous combustion, machinery overheating, etc.)
  • Products where it originated
  • Fire-management procedures at incident time
  • Extent of damage
  • Cost of insurance claim or damage
  • Lessons, observations, comments

Nancy Roberts, CEO & Founder of The DISC Wizard, will deliver the keynote address and explore why Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is crucial for personal and professional success, and how you can develop it. Attendees will learn about the five traits of highly emotionally intelligent people, the importance of self-awareness, and receive a personalized EQ report to enhance their understanding.

Other sessions include:

  • How to save labor and energy costs by scheduling preventive maintenance during normal production hours and the importance of having an effective program to maximize equipment sustainability. Additionally, the session will emphasize the value of regular meetings between production and maintenance teams.
  • An interactive session will equip attendees with actionable strategies for leadership, decision-making and team motivation, including a practical decision-making framework and tips to engage and motivate teams.
  • Process-improvement techniques on how to enhance business-process efficiency and effectiveness through innovative problem-solving, team building and root-cause analysis.
  • A panel discussion will feature GMs and senior management sharing their strategies for managing production, shaping company vision and achieving goals while ensuring efficient, safe and cost-effective operations.

On the second morning, attendees will visit two plant tours, American Wear Inc. in East Orange, NJ, which processes 150,000 pounds of industrial laundry weekly in its unique two-building layout, and Unitex Healthcare Laundry Services in Linden, NJ, a 68,000-square-foot facility that processes 50 million pounds of textiles annually with advanced automated systems.

Prior regional participants of the regional summits have been impressed with the format and the information sharing at both the Midwest and West Coast Summits, reflected in an average NPS score of 71, where a score of 50 is considered excellent. The uniform design of this summit series ensures that TRSA is providing attendees with the best experience possible while also tapering speakers and plant tours to cater to the pain points and values of each specific region.

Registration is open to any production teams across the country that have not been able to attend yet. TRSA is offering a special discount for operators who may want to send their team, register one attendee and get a second registration for free. Simply register both at the same time and use code prodB1G1.

The Northeast Regional Production Summit & Plant Tours is being held in conjunction with the 31st Annual Maintenance Management Institute (MMI), offering learning opportunities for both production and maintenance staff. For more details and registration, visit trsa.org/productionsummit.
