Hygienically Clean Certification is proud to sponsor the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) public service campaign, International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW). Established in 1986, International Infection Prevention Week aims to shine a light on infection prevention and will take place this Oct. 13-19.

Infection Preventionists (IPs) are specially trained professionals who play a crucial role in keeping patients and healthcare workers safe. IPs ensure that healthcare facilities have the policies, protocols, education and tools needed to prevent healthcare-associated infections and combat the spread of communicable diseases such as measles, Mpox, COVID and other infectious threats.

The IIPW 2024 theme is “Moving the Needle on Infection Prevention,” highlighting the work being done to advance areas such as IP professional development, healthcare worker safety, patient safety, public health preparedness and infection prevention throughout the continuum of care. As part of this campaign, APIC has developed downloadable infographics, fact sheets and social media materials to help educate all audiences on infection prevention and control, and the role we all have in creating a safer world through the prevention of infection.

“Hygienically Clean Certification is honored to support APIC during International Infection Prevention Week,” said TRSA President and CEO Joseph Ricci. “This initiative underscores the critical role of Infection Preventionists in safeguarding public health. By sponsoring this campaign, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing infection-prevention practices, particularly through our certified healthcare laundry facilities, which ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety for patients and healthcare workers alike.”

APIC CEO Devin Jopp, EdD, added that, “Thank you Hygienically Clean Certification and TRSA for joining us in the fight against the spread of infection during International Infection Prevention Week and all year round. Together, we can make great progress in our efforts to advance the science and practice of infection prevention and control.”
