The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) will host a virtual public workshop this upcoming Monday and Tuesday, March 4-5, to examine opportunities to increase the use of reusable healthcare textiles (HCTs) for personal protective equipment (PPE) in healthcare settings. Please log on to the NASEM workshop to help provide accurate information to policymakers, and counter potentially inaccurate or unfounded claims by presenters and attendees.
The workshop is in part a result of TRSA’s efforts and coordination with Congress to increase the share of reusable PPE in healthcare settings. While industry operators will be among the presenters, many are academics not familiar with TRSA and our industry. Other presenters include technical experts, policymakers, manufacturers, PPE users and other stakeholders. Your input in the workshop’s Q&A session is needed to accurately portray the benefits and feasibility of integrating more reusable HCTs into healthcare operations.
In the months to come, as policymakers consider measures to promote greater reusable HCT use, they are certain to use the workshop proceedings to evaluate environmental, cost-savings, safety and supply-chain benefits of reusable PPE. This is an unprecedented opportunity for our industry and your company to influence such deliberations. Your participation in this workshop is vital to fostering policy that best serves your interest in promoting and protecting our industry.
The workshop will take place on Monday, March 4, from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST, and Tuesday, March 5, from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. EST. Click here to view the agenda and livestream.
