Online Idea-Sharing to Boost Maintenance Set for April 30

Key challenges for recruiting and retaining technicians and professional development of maintenance management are expected to take center stage in a TRSA virtual discussion on April 30. This Maintenance Network Connections program will foster experience-sharing among participants and foster TRSA’s development of industry best practices in this aspect of laundry operations.

In TRSA Connections roundtables, participants generate the discussion content, with moderators who specialize in the subject material prompting them with questions. This roundtable is likely to cover these subjects:

• Indications that a tech or maintenance supervisor has the skills to grow to a manager or leader of maintenance operations
• Added steps to retain these individuals in their current role until such a position becomes available, as another professional opportunity may exist for them elsewhere to move up, risking their departure
• Organization structure of a laundry maintenance function: based on laundry production, number of people, what they do
• Principal causes of delayed preventive maintenance
• Responsibility for ensuring continuous equipment monitoring, preventing “run to destruction”
