The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently initiated the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), challenging employers to ensure reasonable workplace accommodations to these employees. See the Equal Employment Opportunity section of TRSA.org’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion webpage for a link to the EEOC webpage announcing the enforcement launch.
That page is a hub of links to documents for employees and employers to ensure compliance with the Act. These include tips for workers to request accommodations, a “Know Your Rights” video series and a revised “Know Your Rights” poster that companies must post in most workplaces. Previously released resources include a Q&A on “What You Should Know about the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act,” an infographic for employers and an informational poster about the PWFA.
President Joe Biden (D) signed the PWFA last year; the new law took effect on June 27. For more information, click here.
TRSA will host a webinar on the PWFA on Sept. 21 from 2-3 p.m. EDT. For more information and to register, click here.
