Prudential Overall Supply, Irvine, CA, recently announced the completion of its second solar-power installation. Starting this month, the company’s Fresno, CA, plant is expected to begin generating roughly 60% of its electricity from 472 roof-mounted solar panels, according to a news release.
“We are excited to complete our second solar project,” said Prudential CEO John Clark, noting that the company has additional efforts in the works aimed at advancing its commitment to sustainability. “There are several other projects currently being evaluated by our engineering team for other Prudential locations,” he said.
The Fresno plant solar project is expected to generate 392,000 KwHr of electricity annually for the indusial laundry located in a major agricultural area of the Golden State. Prudential’s drive to tap the sun for electricity also is expected to keep some 274 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere. Clark said the Fresno solar project is part of the company’s Century Initiative, which he described as Prudential’s “roadmap” for its next 100 years in business. “The four core areas of our business planning include a focus on our Customers, Employees, Reputation and Expectations,” he said. He cited this latest solar installation as an ambitious effort to promote sustainability. “This project demonstrates innovation and accountability for our goal to be the industry’s environmental leader.” Click here to see the full release.
A year ago, Prudential announced its inaugural solar project at its Milpitas, CA, cleanroom processing plant. That system is expected to generate 724,000 KwHr of electricity per year. The Milpitas installation features 1,129 solar panels is expected to produce roughly 36% of the plant’s electricity needs. Click here for details.
