TRSA members in North America are welcome to enter the 2023 Green Garage Contest, conducted by TRSA partner NAFA, the Fleet Management Association. Submissions are due Nov. 10 with winners to be announced in December.
The contest aims to highlight the most progressive and environmentally committed fleets to showcase their best practices for eco-friendly vehicle fleet maintenance, from solar panels on the roof to waste oil heating systems. Entrants will find that entering the competition serves as a means of benchmarking operational efficiency and sustainability of their fleet facilities.
Going beyond paper and metals recycling or non-chemical parts washers, the ideas shared will assist with current operations and guide new maintenance facilities in planning. Architects and engineers will learn the importance of green-garage practices in designing these, such as the use of permeable pavement, pit-less vehicle lifts, natural lighting and fluid collection systems. Ways to make use of more non-toxic plant-based cleaners, degreasers and lubricants also will be highlighted.
