TRSA staff recently traveled across four states over four days to discuss industry developments with and get feedback from nine member operators. The meetings offered them an opportunity to showcase their plant operations, as well as discuss the challenges they face in their market area, and how TRSA can best serve them and the industry moving forward.
The latest trip took place from Oct. 30 – Nov. 2, and featured visits to facilities in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. TRSA visited:
- Model Uniforms, Charleroi, PA
- Liniform Service, Barberton, OH
- City Uniforms and Linen, Findlay, OH
- NuCentury Textile Services LLC, Toledo, OH
- Sohn Linen Service, Lansing, MI
- Maurer’s Textile Rental Service, Lansing, MI
- Gallagher Uniform, Battle Creek, MI
- CLS/Continental Linen Services, Kalamazoo, MI
- Monarch Linen, South Bend, IN
TRSA staff members Joseph Ricci, Ken Koepper and Jason Risley visited Model (Pennsylvania) on Day 1; made the three Ohio stops on Day 2, three Michigan stops on Day 3, and closed with CLS and Monarch on Day 4. From entering the first stop on the tour to departing from the last, the nine were completed in less than 72 hours.
All are family-owned-and-operated businesses. Striking as well was the longevity, with several businesses celebrating major milestones this year or next. For example, Gallagher is celebrating its 130th anniversary and Sohn its 90th this year; and CLS its 125th, Liniform its 100th and City its 80th next year. While the final stop on the tour, Monarch Linen, is under new family ownership, the business has been in operation since 1956.
