Century Linen, Johnstown, NY, a 105-year-old provider of healthcare, hospitality and commercial linen services across New York state and New England, announced the appointment of Britton Smith as president. Expected to assume the role of CEO in January 2026, Smith brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across manufacturing, financial services and global operations, with a proven record of driving transformation, operational excellence and strategic growth.

Prior to joining Century Linen, Smith held a number of senior positions with Blue Bird Corp., including president, chief strategy officer and senior vice president of electrification. He grew the company’s electric vehicle business fivefold and launched a new commercial EV chassis line. Previously, Smith founded and scaled Bonsai Finance and built a career in management consulting at McKinsey & Co. Earlier in his career, Britton served in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear engineer and division head aboard the USS Pittsburgh (SSN 720), and was a leadership instructor at the Naval Submarine School.
“I am honored to join Century Linen at this exciting time,” Smith said. “Century’s commitment to growing and developing its team members, and to service excellence and operational performance in a critical industry serving the healthcare community resonates deeply with me. I look forward to working with the talented group at Century to build on the company’s legacy.”
Kevin Nowak, CEO of Century Linen, said that, “We’re excited to have someone with Britton’s skills and experience join the company. I am confident he will make an immediate positive impact. I also look forward to working with him in the coming months to provide a smooth transition into the CEO role.” Kevin is expected to continue to support the company as a senior adviser and board member following the CEO role transition.
Will Krusen, CEO of Falcon Affiliates, a family-office investor that acquired Century Linen in July 2022, added that, “Britton’s leadership skills, and commitment to operational excellence and growth makes him an ideal fit for Century Linen, and his addition to the senior team at Century will strengthen and position the company for continued success. Britton and Kevin have been working hand-in-glove on their transition plan to build upon the dynamic foundation Kevin and the team have established.”
Smith holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in mechanical engineering, with highest honors, from the U.S. Naval Academy.
