TRSA is using input from across the industry to help shape Laundry Hill Day 2027, following the completion of a recent survey designed to better understand the issues affecting linen, uniform and facility services industry executives and strengthen the industry’s advocacy efforts in Washington.
Distributed by TRSA and participating partner associations, the survey drew responses from nearly 100 industry executives, providing insight into interest in Hill Day, previous participation and the federal issues they believe should be raised on Capitol Hill. In 2027, TRSA will be joined by five partner organizations for a united industry effort: the Association for Linen Management (ALM), American Reusable Textile Association (ARTA), CSCNetwork, International Association for Healthcare Textile Management (IAHTM) and Textile Care Allied Trades Association (TCATA).
Nearly 42% of respondents said they plan to attend the Feb. 11 event, with another 21% considering participation. At the same time, more than 61% have never attended Laundry Hill Day, highlighting an opportunity to better familiarize industry executives with the event, the role they can play and what to expect when meeting with lawmakers.
Respondents also weighed in on the federal issues they most want raised with Congress. Ensuring industrial laundries qualify for manufacturing-related tax incentives and immediate expensing was the leading response at nearly 31%, followed by expanding the use of reusable healthcare textiles at 22%, workforce challenges at 21%, and the impact of tariffs on industry costs and supply chains at 19%.
The results reflect a broad range of federal issues affecting the linen, uniform and facility services industry rather than a single dominant priority. Open-ended responses provided further insight into how the industry can strengthen Hill Day, with recurring themes around greater awareness and communication, earlier discussion of policy issues, examples of past advocacy successes, assistance coordinating relevant congressional meetings and greater collaboration across participating associations. Respondents also emphasized the value of connecting Hill Day issues to their companies and creating opportunities for industry executives to exchange perspectives before arriving in Washington.
TRSA will build on these findings through an upcoming GR Connections webinar on Dec. 15, bringing industry executives together to discuss how these policy issues are affecting their businesses and hear perspectives from across the industry. The conversation will help identify common ground, connect real-world experiences with TRSA’s legislative and regulatory priorities, and develop examples that can strengthen the industry’s message to policymakers.
The webinar also will provide practical preparation for Laundry Hill Day, including Hill Day priorities and talking points, congressional meeting FAQs and guidance on effectively communicating company-specific experiences to lawmakers and their staffs. With a majority of survey respondents having never participated in Hill Day, the program will provide both new and returning participants an opportunity to get informed and aligned before heading to Capitol Hill.
By bringing those perspectives together before Hill Day, TRSA can identify common challenges, strengthen its advocacy message and ensure industry leaders arrive on Capitol Hill prepared to tell their own stories.
