John Tingue advanced to regional sales manager for Tingue, Brown & Co.’s northern U.S. territory (from Indiana westward), after a stint overseeing the company’s Chicago-based sales territory, according to a news release.

As Tingue, a fifth-generation member of the family business founded in 1902, moves into management, he’ll apply the industry knowledge and insights he gained during his time serving the Chicago territory. Before joining the company that bears his name, Tingue gained experience at Hulu (a Disney company) and Twitch (an Amazon company). The skills he learned there will come in handy as Tingue works to digitalize the family business’s sales channels via their online e-commerce platform. John gained a degree in media policy from Indiana University.

Tingue President Ty Acton noted that the company’s latest management hire is a tech-savvy, fast learner with proven sales skills that he’ll apply in this new position. “John’s appreciation for the relationship-based sales model that has made our company so successful is evidenced by his quick learning and success in a sales territory,” Acton said. “Having earned the respect of his peers and customers, it was the opportune time to parlay John’s experience with the company’s management needs, as well as our digital-transformation plans.”

Meanwhile, John is taking active role, both as a presenter and participant in educational opportunities offered through TRSA and other industry organizations, including CSC and WTSA. He was recently asked to join the Midwest Textile Services Association’s board of directors, and he’s slated to attend Part III of TRSA’s EMI program this summer.

David Tingue, John’s father and company CEO, added that he’s pleased with this son’s progress. “I am incredibly proud to see John join us as a fifth-generation manager. His passion, dedication and fresh perspective will undoubtedly strengthen our family’s legacy and drive our business forward. It’s a special moment for our family, and I am excited to see how John continues to honor and build upon the values that have guided us for generations.”
